The triple stabbing took place in a Beaver County bar and restaurant at the weekend and, according to police, things got out of hand after 'sport related conversations' became aggressive.
Township police Chief Jim Essek told the local press that a customer in the bar was wearing a LeBron James jersey, which prompted an argument about the qualities of the Miami Heat superstar compared to those of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
The LeBron fan was told that only Jordan can wear the No.23 on his vest (presumably the customer was sporting a Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James top) because he is the 'greatest ballplayer' of all time.
This basketball trash talk escalated an already apparently volatile atmosphere in the bar, and three people are now recovering from injuries they received after a fight broke out.
Michael Landeros, 37, has been charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault, while his nephew Armando Encinas faces more serious allegations.
The 23-year-old faces two counts of attempted criminal homicide and three counts of aggravated assault.
