Top 10 fastest players in the world, including Arsenal and Manchester United flyers
Premier League wingers fill top two spots…
This FIFA list comprises of ten of the fastest top level players in world football. (Obviously not every player in every league in the world has had their speed clocked.)
10) Alexis Sanchez – Barcelona – 30.1 km/h
The Chilean flyer arrived for almost £30m in 2011, but has still not secured a guaranteed starting spot at the Nou Camp.
9) Arjen Robben – Bayern Munich – 30.7 km/h
The Dutchman has enjoyed spells at Chelsea, Real Madrid and now Bayern Munich, where he won an historic treble last season.
8) Franck Ribery – Bayern Munich – 30.7 km/h
The French attacker is one of the favourite to win the Ballon D’or this year.
7) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United – 32.1 km/h
Rooney is deceptively fast, and is back to his best form for a struggling United side this season.
6) Lionel Messi – Barcelona – 32.5 km/h
The world’s best player has scored 324 goals for Barcelona, and still only 26-year-old.
5) Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid – 33.5 km/h
Ronaldo has scored a ludicrous 210 goals in 207 appearance for the Spanish giants.
4) Aaron Lennon – Tottenham – 33.8 km/h
Lennon is one of the fastest wingers in the world, and joined Spurs as a youngster from Leeds United.
3) Gareth Bale – Real Madrid – 34.7 km/h
The Welshman has endured a stuttering start to his career in Spain following his world-record £85m move.
2) Antonio Valencia – Manchester United – 35.2 km/h
The Ecuadorian uses his pace to dominate Premier League fullbacks down the right flank.
1) Theo Walcott – Arsenal – 35.7 km/h
Arsenal’s English winger could well be the fastest player in the world. Walcott has apparently been clocked at 10.4 for the 100 meters!
